Why Evening Sessions

Tacitskills is a company that caters to busy professionals by offering live interactive courses that take place in the evenings between 19:00 and 22:00. This allows professionals to continue working on important projects during the day and complete the course in the evenings. To make the most of their time, the courses are split into 3 hour sessions per evening, rather than requiring professionals to take time off work to attend full-day training sessions. About This Course

This course is accredited and approved by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), on completion professionals will earn 2 ECSA CPD Points as well as  PMI Certificate holders will be eligible to claim 14 PDUs from the Project Management Institute (PMI). The NEC (New Engineering Contract) suite of contracts is widely used in various industries, including civil engineering, process engineering, and construction. This course provides an in-depth understanding of the NEC3 & 4 Engineering and Construction Contract, and covers topics such as how to use this form of contract, how to put it together, and how to manage it effectively.

The section will also cover the endorsement and usage of NEC3 and NEC4, as well as the roles of participants in a project using these contracts. The section will also cover tools for managing change under NEC3 and NEC4, including the early warning procedure, compensation event procedures, and disputes.

  • Structure & Formation of the ECC3 & 4 & Contract Strategy: This section will cover the structure and formation of the NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including the process of completing an invitation to tender and the terms and conditions that apply to the project. The section will also cover the lump sum, rates, and quantities for the project, as well as the materials and objects on site, liability, indemnities, and insurances.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (1 General): This section will cover the general principles of contract analysis and interpretation under NEC3 and NEC4, including the actions, terms, and communication requirements for the parties involved in the project. The section will also cover risk in the engineering and construction contract, as well as strategies for mitigating risk through early warning and change control.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (2 Contractor’s Responsibilities): This section will cover the contractor’s obligations under NEC3 and NEC4, including subcontractors and personnel, as well as the employer’s access rights.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (3 Time, 4 Defects & 5 Payment): This section will cover the timing and completion of the project, including stating and completion dates and the programme. The section will also cover finding and correcting defects, as well as the assessment of moneys due and payment under NEC3 and NEC4.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (6 Compensation Events): This section will cover compensation events under NEC3 and NEC4, including the core events, events relating to physical conditions, and the notice, assessment, and implementation of compensation events.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (7 Title & 8 Insurance): This section will cover the materials and objects on site, as well as the limitation of liability, indemnities, and insurances under NEC3 and NEC4.

  • Contract Analysis & Interpretation (9 Termination & Adjudication): This section will cover the termination of the contract and the procedures for settlement, as well as the role of the adjudicator and the adjudication process under NEC3 and NEC4. The section will also cover tribunal review.

A live webinar training is an interactive course that is conducted online in real-time. It allows professionals to participate remotely and engage with the instructor and other attendees through audio, video, and text-based communication. This accredited course will provide attendees with 3 months of access to recordings for review purposes after the live session has ended

Instalment Option

The option to pay for this course in two installments is available for professionals. The full balance must be paid in full seven days prior to the start of the course. If the balance is not paid before the start of the course, the delegate will not be permitted to attend the course and no refunds will be issued. It is important to note that all installment options are non-refundable. Please note that the installment option is only valid for professionals who register for the course more than two months in advance. If you register for the course less than two months in advance and have only one month remaining until the start of the course, the installment option will not be available and you will need to pay the full price.
