This live interactive online webinar accredited Microsoft Project course It is accredited and approved by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), professionals will earn 2 ECSA CPD Points. PMI Certificate holders will be eligible for 14 PDUs from the Project Management Institute (PMI). This course is designed to teach professionals how to use the tool to its full potential, covering both basic and advanced features and functions. The course is suitable for users of all levels of experience, whether you are using the 2010, 2013, 2016, or 2019 edition of MS Project or the 365 version. Attending professionals who don't have Microsoft Project will be provided with a free trial version of Microsoft Project 2016 (optional). Throughout the course, participants will be given hands-on experience working with a construction-based case study to learn how to manage resources, cost, and time, and reduce the risk of failure on projects.

During this course, you will cover a wide range of topics related to project management using Microsoft Project (MSP). Some of the key topics that will be covered include:

  • The course provides an overview of the concepts of project management and covers the project planning and maintenance cycle. Participants will learn how to create a new project file in Microsoft Project (MSP) and enter project-level information and MSP default values. The course will also cover creating and managing resources in MSP, including adding notes, setting resource calendars and cost rates, and managing resource availability and working time.

  • Participants will learn how to create, copy, and import tasks in MSP, and how to set task durations, dependencies, and lags and leads. The course will also cover the process of assigning and replacing resources in MSP, as well as managing fixed costs, fixed-priced contractors, and time constraints.

  • The course will also cover setting deadlines, managing project schedule conflicts and resource over-allocation, and using the resource leveling feature in MSP. Participants will learn how to set a baseline/approval for the project, track time and cost progress, and update the project status date and current date as needed.

  • In addition, the course will cover updating fixed costs, duration, work, and units in MSP, as well as understanding different task types and effort-driven tasks. Participants will also learn how to monitor project variance and earned value variances, and use the TCPI (To Complete Performance Index) to assess whether the project is on track to meet its goals. The course will also cover taking corrective action and providing progress reports, as well as re-baselining the project as needed.

  • Finally, the course will cover creating templates in MSP and will introduce additional features and functions of the software.
