Why Evening Sessions

Tacit Skills is a company that caters to busy professionals by offering live interactive courses that take place in the evenings between 19:00 and 22:00. This allows professionals to continue working on important projects during the day and complete the course in the evenings. To make the most of their time, the courses are split into 3 hour sessions per evening - Mondays to Thursdays, rather than requiring professionals to take time off work to attend full-day training sessions. Tacit Skills understands that times can be tough and is committed to accommodating professionals by working around their schedules.

About This Course

This accredited Live Interactive Webinar is accredited and approved by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), on completion of this course you will earn 1 ECSA CPD Point, PMP Certificate holders will also be eligible for 7 PMI PDUs. This course is based on international standards and provides a comprehensive introduction to construction project management. It follows the principles outlined in the PMBOK® Guide Edition 7 (Released 2021) and the Construction Extension to the PMBOK® Guide (2016 edition). This course is designed to give less experienced delegates a solid understanding of best practices for managing construction and engineering projects. Project management is a valuable skill in any industry as it helps individuals and organizations plan, execute, and deliver projects within a given timeline and budget. It involves coordinating resources, setting goals, and tracking progress to ensure successful project completion.   • The course then covers the different stakeholders involved in a project, including the project sponsor, project manager, project team, Project Management Office (PMO), and other stakeholders. It covers the process of initiating a project, including the creation of a project statement of work, business case, project charter, and stakeholder register.

  • The course also covers the various aspects of project planning and estimating, including analogous estimating, parametric estimating, Delphi estimating, bottom-up estimating, three-point estimating, reserve analysis, and the cost of quality. It covers the importance of scope management and the tools and techniques used to manage project scope, including the scope management plan, requirements management plan, and project scope statement.

  • The course also covers time management planning, including the creation of a schedule management plan and a project schedule using a network diagram. It covers cost management planning, including the creation of a cost management plan and the estimation and budgeting of project costs. It also covers quality management planning, including the creation of a quality management plan, the use of quality standards and metrics, and the development of a process improvement plan.

  • The course also covers resources management planning, including the creation of a resources management plan, the development of role and responsibility descriptions and organizational charts, and the creation of a staffing and training plan. It covers communications management planning, including the development of a communication management plan and the basics of project communications management.

  • The course also covers risk management planning, including the creation of a risk management plan, the identification and analysis of risks, and the development of risk responses. It covers procurement management planning, including the creation of a procurement management plan, the use of different contract types, and the development of a Procurement Statement of Work (PSOW) and supplier selection criteria.

  • The course also covers stakeholder management planning, including the development of a stakeholder engagement plan and the use of a stakeholder register. It covers Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) management planning, including the creation of an HSSE management plan.

  • The course also covers project integration management, including the creation of a project management plan and other project documents. It covers the execution/construction phase of a project, including the direct and management of project work, the management of quality, the acquisition, development, and management of the project team, and the conduct of procurements.

  • The course also covers the monitoring and controlling phase of a project, including tracking progress and determining variances, progress reporting, and change control. It covers the project close-out phase, including contractual close-out and administrative close-out.

Upon completing this course, professionals will earn 1 ECSA Continuing Professional Development (CPD) point and 7 Project Management Institute (PMI) Professional Development Units (PDUs) for PMP certificate holders. You will also have access to a course group where you can connect with fellow students, ask the instructor questions, and share your experiences. This course is accredited and approved by the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and PMI certificate holders are eligible to claim 7 PDUs from PMI.

Recordings of the live sessions will be made available for attending delegates who miss a session due to load shedding. Please note that the course live sessions must be attended in order to qualify for your certificate. Recordings are only for review purposes.

He has provided training in project management, quality management, and business analysis since 1999 and has experience with various national and international training providers. Dave is certified in Project Management Professional (PMP), Portfolio, Programmed and Project Offices (P3O), Managing Successful Programs (MSP), PRINCE2, Professional Scrum Master (PSM1), IT Service Management (ITIL), Total Quality Management (TQM), NGstudy™ Certified Negotiation Associate (NGN-A), and Six Sigma Green Belt.
