This course highlights the importance of understanding the relationship between a contract and a project schedule and reinforces the principles to be applied within contract management. It will not only enhance your general understanding of all of the four contracts typically used in South Africa and beyond, it will also be of much benefit to those who are considering submitting EOT and additional cost claims or to those who stand at the receiving end of claims.
The use of forms contracts, i.e. FIDIC, NEC, JBCC and GCC is commonplace and advisable. Notwithstanding the frequent use of these contracts, poor contract administration and management remains the number one cause for disputes. New editions of these contracts are also now being used. It has, therefore, become essential for users of these contracts to gain a thorough understanding of its terms in order that they avoid making mistakes when administering the contract. This, even more so, in the time of COVID-19 which has resulted in many projects being delayed, thus triggering a multitude of claims.
