How to contact the Instructor
Certificate of Completion
Leaving a Course Review
Course Icons Explained
CPD Portal instructors work hard to provide you with a high quality and compelling course. If you have any questions or comments about a course you’re enrolled in, you can contact the instructor via a direct message or the Q&A.
How to Send a Direct Message to Your Course Instructor
You can message the instructor of a course you have enrolled in by following these steps:
1. Navigate to the My Account Page.
2. Click Members on the right-hand side of the tab menu.
3. Click on the instructor’s name and you will be directed to their profile page.
4. Hit Send message. You will be taken to your inbox.
5. Compose a message and click Send.
Ask a Question or See Previous Answers in The Q&A
Each CPD Portal course contains a Q&A, where you can ask the instructor questions about the course. You can also view answers the instructor’s posted for previous questions, or read and respond to comments your fellow students have made.
When you complete a CPD Portal course, you will receive a certificate of completion, which you can share with your friends, relatives, co-workers and potential employers. Certificates of completion help demonstrate your accomplishments, but please note this Certificate is not the CPD accreditation Certificate. CPD Portal is not an accredited institution, but we make use of instructors and training providers who are registered. This means that after completion of a course, CPD Portal will be in contact to send you forms that must be filled in before CPD points can be allocated to you. A new Certificate will be issued with the accreditation numbers and signed by the Instructor to validated the completion of the course.
When all the curriculum items of a course have been completed, a badge will appear on your profile, and you will see a notification indicating the certificate of completion to download. Click on the link to download the certificate. CPD Portal will be in contact directly after this.
Certificates can be saved as a .pdf or .jpg file so that you can easily share your accomplishment. In addition, certificates can be shared on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn directly from CPD Portal.
Certificates of completion can be accessed via your CPD Portal Dashboard.
Certificate of completion: commonly asked questions
Below are commonly asked questions we receive regarding CPD Portal certificates of completion.
I finished my course but I still can’t access my certificate of completion. How come?
In order to receive your certificate of completion, each lesson item must be marked as complete. This should be automatic process as the platform tracks your progress to see if you have fast-forwarded the video to the end without looking at the content. This can be manually overwritten by clicking the Mark as Complete checkbox, this is a useful feature for skipping chapters that you are not interested in.
I can’t continue to the next lesson? Why?
In order to satisfy the Accreditation bodies that the student has attended the course, CPD Portal has a strict platform that forces the students to pass each quiz (should there be quizzes in your course) before the lesson can continue.
I’ve completed my course and the trophy has appeared, but when I click on it, I can’t see a certificate. Why?
Occasionally the system may need a few moments to generate a certificate of completion, after a course has been completed. Wait a couple of minutes and then try clicking on the trophy again. You may also need to refresh the page, or clear your cache and cookies, in order to see your certificate. Should this not appear, please contact us.
Do all courses offer certificates of completion?
Yes, all our courses offer certification of completion.
My certificate has my account’s username on it, instead of my real name. How can I change it?
Certificates of completion are generated using whatever First name and Last name you entered when you created your CPD Portal account. If you need to change the certificate’s name, please contact CPD Portal, so that we can verify this is you.
This method stops students of training providers from obtaining a certificate and renaming them to hand out to students that didn’t do the course.
We will send you an email to confirm when your updated certificate is ready.
Can I change the formatting of my certificate of completion? Or add an image?
Unfortunately, certificates are created using a template, and there is no way to change the formatting for them at this time. If you would like to submit this as a feature request.
Certificates issued by the Instructor / Training provider will have their own company logo and Accreditation body credentials as required by the accreditation body
Rating your experience in a course is an easy way to give instructors feedback on how to improve and to help potential students select the right course. You can leave a review at anytime after starting the course. After leaving a review, you will always have the ability to edit or delete it.
Instructors can publicly respond to your review in case they want to thank you for your opinion, clarify any questions or concerns you raised, or let you know that they’ve made changes to improve the course based on your input. If you update your review following an instructor’s response, only your updated review will be visible to other students (the instructor response will removed).
You can also leave feedback on the course by answering the optional questions you’ll be asked when you submit a review or rating.
How to Leave a Review
There are three places you can go to leave a review:
- From the course cards on your My Courses page.
- In the course player by clicking on Leave a rating.
- With the in-course prompt: while viewing the course you will be prompted to leave a review three times (beginning, middle, and end).
All of these reviews will be visible to the instructor and other students, but if you update your review, only your latest changes will be visible.
Don’t worry, if you change your mind as you continue through the course, you will be prompted again to update your review.
What to Include in Your Review
Whether you decide to leave a review after you’ve been prompted, or you initiate the review yourself, the process is the same.
- After clicking on Leave a rating, select how many stars you wish to leave in the rating (half-stars are supported for ratings above 1 star).
- Leave a detailed review explaining your experiences.
- Provide additional feedback if you wish by answering the questions regarding the course’s attributes.
- Click Save and Exit to submit your rating.
One of the things that makes CPD Portal great is that instructors can provide lectures in a variety of ways, from videos to PowerPoints. Here’s a short explanation of each icon:
Video: This is the most common icon you’ll see in a CPD Portal course. The lecture is a full video, and it could display anything from the recording of a person to an audio and video lecture using PowerPoint to a lecture that’s completely done via whiteboard. The numbers here denote the length of the video.
Audio: This icon denotes a lecture that is meant to be audio only. If an image appears, it’s likely an enlarged icon of a volume bar – this is totally normal! Sit back and enjoy the sound of the instructor’s voice or their choice of instrument.
Presentation: Lectures of this type are typically a collection of slides done with PowerPoint, KeyNote, etc. and will display the total slides in that lecture. Audio is not a necessity, so if you don’t hear anything, worry not! This is intentional. Many instructors will convert PowerPoint slides to a video if they add audio.
Document: We have instructors who have written parts of books, which will sometimes appear in the form of a PDF document as a downloadable object, along with the total pages you should expect from that particular lecture. Perhaps it’s not a part of a book, but a printable handout. Whatever the use, this is a document that’s meant to supplement the video lectures, and can sometimes be a huge part of the course itself.
Text: This lecture will usually show up as a block of text. Often, it is used as an introductory lecture. It can also be used to direct students to supplementary material that has to be downloaded from a site away from CPD Portal.
Mashup: This icon denotes a multimedia lecture, so students may encounter lectures that contain both a video and a PowerPoint.
Quiz: A course contains a quiz if this icon appears as one of the lectures. Students that prefer to be tested on the material they learn should be on the lookout for this icon when enrolling for a course.
Supplementary material: This icon means that there are supplementary materials available for download within the lecture. Be sure to check the tab to access the materials!
Discussion: When students post discussion questions to a specific lecture, this icon will appear under the lecture name.
External material: If this icon shows up, there will be no video content in that specific lecture. Instead, there will be a link to an external source provided by the instructor.
